Nicole's friends had been suggesting that she try online dating. Once Covid-19 shut everything down, she decided that she'd try it because she wouldn't have to actually meet anyone in person! Nicole messaged Nick on 4/9/20 and they started talking and texting daily. Their first date was 5/6/20. Nick went over to Nicole's and made dinner for her. Ever since then, they both knew that this was it for them and they wanted to be together. Everything was so comfortable and it felt like they'd known each other forever.
I had the ring for all of six days before asking the big question. When I was buying the ring I knew I wanted to do it soon but didn’t really have a plan of when and how. However, knowing Nicole I knew I didn’t want to make a big scene about it but rather just have it be a special moment between her and I. About 4 days later I officially lost a bet to her and the winner of the bet got to pick an entire Saturday’s worth of activities and meals and the loser had to pay for whatever it was we were going to do. That was on a Wednesday and the next day it hit me, that’s when I’m going to do it! Right away to start “her special day” I was going to ask her to marry me. So, Saturday morning came and the first thing she wanted to do was go get breakfast. We were both about ready to leave, I had the ring in my pocket and then was just kind of putzing around in the kitchen. Nicole walked in to the kitchen, looked at me and said “Are you ready yet or what?!” That’s when it happened, I looked at her and said “I am, but I have a question for you first” , then I got down on one knee, pulled the ring out and asked her to marry me. At first I couldn’t tell if she thought I was joking, but after further examination of the ring and realizing it was in fact real she smiled and said yes.
