What's a better second date than going to the paintball field?! After a full day of kicking ass and Nicole getting the 'player of the day' badge (for being the last man standing and getting shot to hell in a moment of blind bravery) the two love birds went out for a smoothie. There in the Safeway parking lot, covered in dirt and sweat, Nick leaned in for their first kiss.
Nothing about their relationship was ordinary. First they met and feel in love, not too odd yet, but then six months into their relationship they started to shop around for a home together in another state. On Valentine's day, 2016 they put in an offer on their first home... even though they hadn't lived together yet. After their offer on the house was accepted they moved in together and awaited their move to Washington over the summer. They then spent four years remodeling their home and going on adventures. Nearly five years after they met, Nick proposed to Nicole on a spontaneous backpacking trip. She said yes, and now you are reading their love story.
True to her spontaneous nature Nicole texted Nick on a Friday and asked if he was up for a backpacking trip to an alpine lake that he could fish in... leaving the next morning. Always ready for an adventure, Nick said yes and as he packed his backpack, he also secretly packed the ring he designed and had been carrying around for weeks. At the end of half a dozen miles, and over 5,000 ft elevation gain, they made it to the lake. Being a short hike they swam, read, and fished. Ever the provider and outdoorsman, Nick caught, cleaned, and cooked their dinner. As they looked across the lake and watched the sun set Nick pulled out his ring and asked if she would marry him.
2020 was weird for everyone, we are not alone in that. However planning a series of large gatherings that requires many people to travel with no venues open to look at or guarantee a booking can be challenging. So we adapted to the situation. Can't be positive that the venue will be open or properly cleaned? No problem! We'll use our garden as the backdrop for a memorable wedding. This way if we have to postpone due to travel restrictions or safety concerns we can easily rebook another date.
