Travel Note
Merida is a beautiful colonial city located on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. It's special due to the colonial and historic sites beside the modern new areas. While in the city, some interesting sites to visit are Downtown and Paseo, de Montejo. The downtown area, Santa Lucia, offers a lot of restaurants and bars within walking distance. Additionally, you can walk to “La Plaza Grande” the heart of Merida, where you can visit “El Palacio de Gobierno”. There you will find Murals by Fernando Castro Pacheco depicting the history of Yucatan. One of the favorite areas in Merida is Paseo de Montejo, a beautiful walking avenue where you can enjoy the Colonial Architecture “Las Casas Gemelas”, La Quinta Molina, and el Palacio de Antropologia e Historia. You can also have a coffee at Casa Tho or an ice cream at Heladeria “El Colon”.
Flight
Merida International Airport (MID) is your most direct way to arrive in the city. You can also get to Merida through Mexico City Int Apto, Cancun Int Apto.
