The One Where We Get Married

Kyle, Nicole, Audrey, Mable and Bunny (our dogs) want to say thank you for the all the love and congratulations on our engagement! The world has changed a lot since we got engaged, and we've had to revise our wedding plans. As of February 2021, we will be limiting our wedding attendance to 25 people - essentially our wedding party and parents. We've reached out to everyone individually, but if you haven't heard from us or have any questions please email nicole.hellendoorn@gmail.com. Thanks for understanding, we'll have a big summer party in 2022 to make up for it!

Summer 2016: Boy Swipes Right, Girl Says Hello

We met on Bumble, yay for technology! Lucky for us, Kyle was bored at work one day when he decided to give online dating just one more chance after moving home from Oklahoma. Even luckier, Nicole happened to be within 10 miles of his office so we matched. After weeks of app banter, we had our first date at Brio in Irvine - meeting just for drinks to keep it casual. Well, drinks turned into dinner, which turned into us shutting the place down after a few old fashioneds and the staff desperately wanting to go home for the night. After that, we were pretty much inseparable.

The Ultimate Surprise

Summer 2019: Kyle Uncharacteristically Wants To Go Hiking

Fast forward to 2019 - Kyle tells Nicole that they're getting up early to go hiking with friends at the most beautiful spot in Laguna Beach, Top Of The World. We got there so early the park technically wasn't open yet, and Kyle seemed affectionate but a little preoccupied - not nervous, just slightly fixated on something. Nicole was focused on meeting their friends and their dog that she still thought were coming... guess what? They DIDN'T! Kyle walked her to the very top of the mountain where there's a bench made for two. Thanks to some June gloom, the bench was completely soaked and muddy but Kyle being the amazing planner that he is - brought a towel "just in case". Nicole was "admiring the view" and pretending not to notice him cleaning the bench. The rain held off just long enough to let some sun peek through and make a rainbow. Then, Kyle got down on one knee in the mud (don't worry, he wasn't there for long!) and popped the question. He had been planning on the ring and proposal for months! We immediately called our friends and family, and then we were starving from our "hike" and not having had breakfast so we went to Eat Chow in Newport to celebrate with our customary three breakfast entrees for the two of us to share. Now, here we are!
