How We Met

9/26/2015: The first time Nicole saw me was at SigEp's Fall of 2015 date party. She said it was practically love at first sight. I was dressed as a rockstar with no shirt on, a black leather vest, and fake tattoos all over my chest (the complete opposite of what I normally wear). 10/2/2015: The first time we actually met was a random night at SigEp. I came down from my room at the frat and Nicole was hanging out on the ping pong table. I went up to her and introduced myself while the group was talking. I was wearing a button-up shirt at that time. Nicole noticed and thought that I had too many buttons buttoned. So as I stood there, this girl I just met was starting to unbutton my shirt to help me look better. Once she was finished, I thought that this must be a joke and there is no way this gorgeous girl is into me in the slightest. So, my nervous self awkwardly buttoned my shirt all the way back to the top and walked away. 10/29-30/2015: The first time we truly hung out was at SigEp Haunted House. As groups of people came through the house we scared them together, and in between we started to get to know each other. This was also the night of our first kiss (which she initiated). The weeks after haunted house we attended a concert, went to SigEp's Winter Formal, kept getting to know each other, and spent as much time together as we could. 12/8/2015 The Beginning of Forever: I asked Nicole to be my girlfriend!

The Proposal

I proposed to Nicole on our anniversary, December 8th, 2019, under a beautiful pavilion at the Botanic Gardens in Memphis. My family, Nicole’s family, and two of our friends all helped set up the pavilion to make it look gorgeous for the proposal. We had rose petals leading up to the opening, rose petals surrounding a table that had the photo box I created, lights around the structure, and roses throughout. Our friends and family did an amazing job making the proposal even more special and romantic than what I could’ve ever imagined! As we were planning how we would celebrate our anniversary, I told Nicole that a client had given us some tickets to the Botanic Gardens for the day. She was excited and didn’t suspect a thing. Once Nicole and I got there, we had to walk a good distance to actually get to the pavilion. My hands were shaking and I thought I was going to throw up from being so nervous. I was nervous, excited, and so unbelievably ready to ask Nicole to marry me. We got to the table with the photo box and engagement ring in the bottom. We opened each lid and re-lived some of our favorite memories together. Towards the end I could tell she was excited to see what was under the final lid. She started opening each box and looking through the photos faster and faster. Once the last lid was opened, I took the ring out, told Nicole how much I loved her, how I feel about her, and dropped down on one knee. I asked her to marry me and she said yes, of course! Then all of our family came out from hiding to surprise her. We were so thankful to share this amazing moment as a couple, but even more thankful and blessed that we got to have our family and friends there with us.
