Nicole was a senior at The University of Illinois when she was sent home from school due to COVID. At that time, Justin was living at home, one year out of college, spending time with his family and working. The very day the world shut down on March 13th, 2020 – the same day Nicole learned her senior spring break trip and graduation were cancelled – she and Justin matched on Hinge. Nicole went home from school and spent the next few weeks at her parents house. She said to them "I'm talking to this guy, I think I like him, but this is so silly and a waste of time. With COVID, I'll never meet him". Nicole's mom said "If it does work out, it will be such a great story". In May 2020, Nicole and Justin went on their first date in Justin's parents' garage - 6 feet apart. Justin brought out Scandinavian Swimmers, which is now one of their favorite snacks. They immediately clicked and continued seeing each other, exclusively outdoors, in their parents' backyards and on neighborhood walks. On June 25th, 2020, Justin asked Nicole to be his girlfriend at a family dinner at his parent's house. Almost 5 years later - they are able to tell the amazing story of meeting the day the world shut down.
