On the day I asked her to marry me, I remember I was so nervous that I couldn't think. My best man (Seth Young) was asking me questions on where to put the lanterns and what to write on the dock, but I just kept thinking about how I didn't want to mess this up. Before I finish, I should give some background on the dock. Back when Nicole and I were growing closer to each other, there was a dock where we would watch the moonset. We couldn't ever watch the sunset due to our work and school schedule so we decided to make the moonset our thing. We brought snacks, music, and blankets as we sat on the dock for hours talking and watching the moon disappear over the mountains. On that dock I knew that Nicole was the woman that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. Fast forward a couple of months, and I found myself on that same dock but with a ring in my hand. I wrote down some of our favorite memories on that dock, surrounded by lanterns and her favorite dog, Hallie. On April 20th 2019, I asked her to be mine and she said yes. I was overjoyed that I will be spending the rest of my life with Nicole.
There wasn't an exact moment when I first fell in love with Jose. It was a little bit of when he texted me, asking how I was. It was a bit of him inviting me to his apartment at NU to play Smash Bros or watch a movie. It was a bit of him offering me soup when I was sick, or energy drinks when I had an essay due. I found myself wondering how someone could be so selfless, fun, and kind. Last fall, I'll never forget how we'd stand outside the apartments in the freezing cold for hours, telling stories and jokes. It never seemed that cold, though. I'm still wondering how I got a man like that, who's obviously way out of my league. He makes me stronger every day, and I can't wait to marry him.
