When Nicole and Joe both swiped right on Tinder, their decisions were based solely on strategically chosen pictures and artfully crafted blurbs. After a few messages back and forth, they brought their virtual flirtations into the real world. Joe did his typical (aka exhaustive) due diligence and managed to find a bar in Nicole's neighborhood where she had never been. In typical Nicole fashion, she showed up about 20 minutes late, and only came at the insistence of her roommate Robbie. Their first date was a short one, lasting a mere 6 hours, and Nicole knew that she was done. She was drawn to his charm, his looks, and his dedication to being a Big Brother. That same week they saw each other 4 more times and knew that this was it - it was not a Tinder-Fail! After their first year dating, Joe started looking for Nicole's engagement ring in October of 2019. In February of 2020, he planned an amazing surprise birthday party for Nicole and invited all their closet family and friends. She was sure that this was THE night she was getting engaged, but it wasn't. Shortly thereafter, COVID shut the world down. After a few months, Joe was able to convince the jeweler into allowing him into his home, where he was finally able to pick up the ring for Nicole. With the ring now in hand, he was ready to propose, but needed to change up his original engagement plans - an elaborate proposal, with a post-celebration party and all their friends, was no longer in the cards. On June 7, 2020, bright and early at 6am, Joe got Nicole out of bed and told her they were going for their typical Sunday morning coffee walk. They made their way to the pier, sat on their favorite bench and Joe dropped to one knee asking the woman of his dreams to marry him. Even though she was wearing her sweats, with a messy bun, and un-manicured nails, Nicole said 'Yes'. It was the perfect day, perfect proposal and Joe's sister, Kelly, was there to capture it all!
