Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

The 98 acre Desert Museum is a fusion experience: zoo, botanical garden, art gallery, natural history museum, and aquarium. This outdoor adventure has over 2 miles of trails, so make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes and plan accordingly for the weather.

Pima Air & Space Museum

Experience the past, present and future of aviation at the Pima Air and Space Museum. See more than 300 aircraft, including World War II models, a modern-day F-16, giant B-52 bombers and a rare Super Guppy transport plane—step inside the Air Force One that flew Presidents Kennedy and Johnson. Check out the space gallery, which includes Moon Rock and the Apollo capsule trainer.

Mount Lemmon

Mount Lemmon is about 30 degrees cooler than Tucson and only about 90 minutes away. Located in the Santa Catalina Range, Mount Lemmon is surrounded by the Coronado National Forest and home to the town of Summerhaven. Explore various trails, eat homemade fudge, and watch a breathtaking sunset over the city. Details: 9800 E Ski Run Rd (about a 90 minute drive to the top)

1. Dove Mountain •Lots of trails of varying difficulty very close to the venue. 2. Saguaro National Park •Tucson is home to the nation's largest cacti, the giant saguaro. These majestic plants, found only in a small portion of the United States, are protected by Saguaro National Park. There are two spectacular locations on either side of Tucson, and the entrance fee is good for 7 days, so you can visit both sites. 3. Ventana Canyon Trailhead •Ventana Canyon is one of the most beautiful canyons in the Santa Catalina front range, and one of the least visited. The trail becomes steadily more difficult to follow as it climbs farther from the trailhead and higher up the canyon. As you climb, occasional pools and widening vistas provide reasons to stop, take a breather. •Details: 6601 N Resort Dr (about a 36 minute drive) 4. Sabino Canyon •This state park offers a ton of hiking trails ranging in difficulty from easy to challenging. 5700 N Sabino Canyon Rd (about a 35 minute drive)
