Our story began a few years ago when we were able to cross paths at a youth camp one year. Nicole’s family attend the same church as my family here in Fort Lauderdale. She lives down in Fort Myers which is a two hour drive and would sometimes come and visit. One Sunday morning, I saw her and immediately caught my attention. Weeks would pass by seeing her from the corner of my eye and I still didn’t know who she was and how she was related to the Perez family. We never really got to formally meet and actually have a conversation until the second night at a TDV youth camp in Lake Placid. As I was walking to the front of the meeting space I see Nicole coming in through the front door. I immediately froze and thought to myself “This is the girl!”. The day was going by and I had every intention to finally meet this girl and actually get to know her. After the first service ended, I walked over to her table and gained the courage to simply say hello. We were able to talk for a bit and towards the end of the conversation, I was able to make her laugh and smile and from that moment on I knew she was going to be the one. The next day, youth camp was over and I knew I had to come up with a reason to keep on talking to her. I saw she had posted a picture of her that day saying she was in Italy and I took the opportunity to talk to her through social media and later on get her phone number. Ever since then we have talked all day every day. It felt great knowing somebody who truly understood me and supported me. It’s been amazing getting to know each other more and more every single day. God answered our prayers and we are beyond blessed.
