Jake and I were paired up to walk together at homecoming coronation our freshman year of undergrad in Oklahoma. I thought his easy, kind smile was cute, and he can't forget how my big blue eyes looked. We became fast friends, road tripping home, enjoying easy conversation around countless campfires, and drinking bottomless cups of coffee at the breakfast place. But... "we're just friends, you guys." I secretly hoped I'd casually bump into him at the coffee shop, or the cafeteria and would linger just in case. He suddenly sparked an interest in reffing volleyball games, and traveled to away games to cheer the team on. But... "we're just friends, really." For fear of losing a best friend, no moves were made. "Just friends" was it. But one day Jake made one big move that changed everything forever. He saw potential for much more than, "just friends," and he wasn't about to miss out. He was bold, and asked me on a date. And we never looked back.
