Mexican weddings tend to be on the more formal side. We are definitely advocates for "wear what you want," but in general it will be a formal affair!
FUN! Mexican weddings are all about a good party. There will be lots of dancing, tequila and music late into the night. We will incorporate some traditions from American and British weddings!
LATE! Be mentally prepared for a late night. Mexican weddings start late and end late. You are of welcome to leave whenever you are ready, but there will be music into the AM hours.
Have no fear, the majority of people in Guadalajara understand and speak English, so you won't have a problem getting around. But if you want to freshen up on your Duolingo Spanish before coming, that would be great too!
ABSOLUTELY! Guadalajara is the capital of the state of Jalisco (the best state in Mexico) and the home of Tequila, Mariachi and delicious food. Its a must see if you want to experience true Mexican culture.
There will be a shuttle from the Riu Plaza Hotel to and from the wedding (it will end late!). If the times don't suit you, driving yourself, Uber or taxi is always an option. But be aware that the venue is about 40 minutes outside the city, so be sure to book them in advance. Let us know if you need any help with this!
