Hawaii guidelines are constantly changing due to the uncertain climate of Covid-19. Currently, in order to by pass the 5 day mandatory quarantine one must show proof of full vaccination or a negative NAAT test from a trusted partner for ages 5 and up. Some restaurants and indoor activities require full vaccination or negative Covid-19 test. The governor of Hawaii is in talks of requiring a booster shot to be considered fully vaccinated. Yes, it is always safe to have hard copy of vaccine card or negative test just in case.
There are no restrictions when traveling to other islands, unless that specific island has their own rules. Currently Oahu and Maui require boosters to be considered fully vaccinated
