The wedding has finally been rescheduled! All details are more or less the same - same venue, same bride and groom, etc., just a different date (and season). December is a WAY better month for a beachside wedding - trust us! Please join us on December 10, 2021 in Laguna Beach and keep your fingers crossed that we don't have to reschedule this thing again!
On a cold February night, Nicole and Evan's first conversation at Toastmasters' devolved into a brief, but elaborate conversation about Ancient Greece, political philosophy, oil and gas, and their mutual love of travel. Nicole immediately went home and collected all publicly-available information on Evan (as the true analyst that she is), including his email, which she used to send him a meticulously crafted email asking him out for drinks. Two weeks later, they met for their first date. Evan did not know it was a date, but Nicole kindly educated him (a first of many lessons). And Evan ran away, quite literally. And so began a courtship that resembles nothing of the 90s love stories on which we were raised (Evan performed no grand gesture, Nicole may have double- and tripled-called Evan on a handful of occasions), but became a brilliant piece of art crafted on respect, compromise, and growth.
Evan surprised Nicole with a romantic weekend trip to Vail, Colorado, in June 2018, whisking her away from the city and finding the most beautiful and picturesque hike, followed by a romantic, candle-lit dinner where Evan buttered her up with red meat and red wine. Just before dessert, with a fireplace blazing in the background and soft jazz floating through the air, Evan got on one knee and professed his undying love for Nicole and presented her with the most beautiful custom-designed-by-Evan ruby and black diamond ring.
After weeks of travel and work that left both Nicole and Evan exhausted, they met in San Francisco in September 2017 between business trips for a quick tryst before they flew again in opposite directions. Nicole had the brilliant and romantic idea of staying at an AirBnb on a boat in the beautiful bay-side town of Sausalito. Whilst sitting in traffic on the way, Nicole and Evan had a serious, not-entirely-friendly conversation about their relationship and their future, and (somehow) concluded they would get married. Evan, aware of the antiquated, yet socially-required construct of the Proposal, aimed to solidify this decision by at least getting on one knee and proposing to Nicole on this boat on the water at sunset, her favorite view. Thwarted by the AirBnb host claiming trouble with the boat's plumbing, the sunset came and went while Nicole and Evan drank heavily at the bar at the harbor, waiting to board this damn boat. It was dusk by the time they were shuttled to a very small houseboat and a storm was rolling in. Nicole and Evan tried to make the best of the situation, climbing unsteadily to the top deck of the boat to look at the stars. As the wind picked up and the beers went back, Evan handed Nicole his beer and struggled to keep his balance as he kneeled on the deck. Grasping at the handrails, Evan tried to look deeply into Nicole's eyes and said, "I know we already talked about this, but will you marry me?" They devolved into giggles and proceeded to have the worst night of sleep ever on a shitty boat in a windy harbor with waves crashing into the boat.
If planning a wedding wasn't stressful enough, Nicole decided to take a job in London, packing up and moving across the Pond just 10 months before the big day! Evan is holding down the fort in Denver until after this whole wedding thing, when Evan and Bridge join Nicole in London to start a their new adventure.
