How We Met

September 2018

We met in much the same way that most 21st century couples do, on a dating app. We have differing recollections of how our first date went but there are some undisputed facts: we went to a sports bar in Tampa called Ducky's, we met up for a couple of drinks, we had a great time together, and we knew that we wanted to see where our relationship would take us. The end of the date, however, is a matter of great debate between us. Nicole claims the date ended with a little kiss as David walked her to her car. David, on the other hand, has a distinct recollection that there was a significant amount of tongue used in the kiss by Nicole. You can decide whose version is the more credible one. In any event, the kiss, whether French or not, led to a whirlwind romance that has lasted nearly 5 years already. Nicole: “My first impression of David was that he had a great sense of humor and was quite charismatic, but also really awkward. I decided to give him a chance and go on another date, despite his awkwardness. That next date led to an amazing relationship. David: “My first impression of Nicole was that she was very pretty, funny, and nice. We had plenty of laughs our entire first date and have been laughing together ever since. I knew she wanted to be with me when she kissed me so aggressively that fateful night at Ducky’s. I’m thankful and blessed that I will get to spend the rest of my life with someone so wonderful. Nicole is patient, loving, and kind. Oh, and did I mention that she’s absolutely stunning and beautiful? I can’t imagine myself without her and our 2 dogs, Brewster and Kahlua.“
