Things To Do

Los Angeles is really just a patchwork of smaller towns/cities. Each part has a completely different feel and there is something for all tastes. For visitors it can be quite daunting, and it is generally important to have an idea of how you want to plan your time and map it out accordingly. We are laying out some areas below that we think are worth visiting, along with their distinct qualities as well as attractions, restaurants, and bars that we frequent and would recommend – this is very far from an exhaustive list, and we encourage also doing your own research or asking us for recommendations directly.

Hollywood

The most famous part of the city, but some areas being better than others. Definitely worth seeing, but can be somewhat anti-climactic for first-time visitors. - Hollywood Walk of Fame - Runyon Canyon Hike - Amoeba Records - Musso & Frank Grill - Jitlada

West Hollywood

Although it has the word “Hollywood” in the name, it is completely different. It is very glamorous, trendy, and upscale, and is home to famous parts of LA like the Sunset Strip and Melrose Avenue. - The Grove & Farmers Market - Rainbow Bar & Grill - Formosa Cafe - The Comedy Store - Petersen Automotive Museum

Beverly Hills

This area’s reputation precedes it. Another very glamorous part of the city, and definitely worth strolling around Rodeo Drive for good people-watching, window shopping, or real shopping (if that’s how you roll). - Rodeo Drive - Beverly Gardens Park - Honor Bar

Venice

Historically a bohemian beach town, and home to the world-famous Venice Beach and Venice Canals. - Venice Beach Boardwalk - Venice Canals - Abbot Kinney Blvd - Hotel Erwin Rooftop Bar - Hinano Cafe

Santa Monica

A beach town that is a more upscale and commercial version of Venice (its neighbor). - Santa Monica Pier - Century City Mall - The Bungalow - Cobi’s

Downtown LA

Downtown comprises diverse smaller areas such as Chinatown, Little Tokyo, and the Arts District. Very walkable, and you may come across some interesting characters. - The Broad Museum - Grand Central Market - The Last Bookstore - Angel City Brewery - Perch

Koreatown

Probably our favorite part of LA. Amazing food, bars, and buzz in general. We recommend ubering, as parking can be tricky, and you will likely be drinking a large quantity of beer and soju. - Origin Korean BBQ - Sun Nong Dan - The Prince - HMS Bounty - Dan Sung Sa - Cafe Brass Monkey

Echo Park/Silver Lake/Los Feliz

Commonly known as the East Side, these 3 areas are very hip, charming, and home to trendy restaurants, bars, and boutiques. LA’s version of Brooklyn. - Griffith Observatory - Echo Park Lake - Night + Market Song - Little Doms - Red Lion Tavern

Manhattan Beach/Hermosa Beach/Redondo Beach

Laid-back beach towns that comprise a mix of casual surf culture as well as luxury. Beautiful beaches and sunsets. - Hermosa Beach Pier - The Strand Promenade - Shellback Tavern - The Strand House
