Almost 7 years ago, Cody and I met in high school through mutual friends. We were both in relationships at the time, you know the high school drama. I was a senior, and Cody was junior at the time. My relationship ended before the year was finished and I realized I really like Cody. Cody unfortunately was still in his relationship, but I did not know that. I then asked Cody out and was shot down. I was so embarrassed that I didn’t talk to him for 2 weeks! We started being close again and then boom… COVID happened and we were locked down. We went for four years without seeing each other in person, various texts, calls, and living in two different states. We started new lives and got into other relationships. Cody and I were in fact in serious relationships with other people during our time apart. Suddenly, in April of 2024, right after Easter, Cody texted me asking me on a date. He had moved back to Houston! Our first date was the most perfect time of my life. I knew when I saw his eyes, I loved him just like I loved him in high school. He looked at me just the same. We truly went by the saying, “When you know, you know”. About nine months after our first date, Cody asked me to marry him. And I ecstatically said yes! The day we got engaged was also the same date as Cody’s birthday. We knew we were going to spend the rest of our lives together. And now we will.
