"...That's what we do, we figure things out." This motto has served them well for the nine years they've been together...especially since the first seven years were long distance. Nicole is from St. Louis, MO and Carsten grew up three hours away in Peoria, IL. They met through mutual friends at a few regional youth group church events in high school and befriended each other. When they started dating, they'd do day/weekend trips to visit each other every other month. When they graduated, Carsten was accepted into a 6yr medical program in Dublin, Ireland. He decided to study there and Nicole studied nursing in Omaha, NE. On an unforgettable St. Patrick's Day in Dublin, Carsten matched to Baylor Scott & White's emergency residency program in Temple, Texas. Nicole relocated to Temple and continued her passion of pediatric oncology nursing. Together they've loved building a great community of friends in Temple and enjoy hiking (which is how Carsten proposed), traveling, hosting game/movie nights, having dance parties in the kitchen, and playing with Banner (their German Shepherd). Nicole's favorite thing about Carsten is his consistent and resilient character. Carsten says his favorite thing about Nicole is her kindness and thoughtfulness. They can't wait to spend a lifetime of figuring things out together :)
