Exhausted from failures in our previous terrible love lives... and apparently not being/looking very "gay presenting", we found ourselves on Bumble. Swipe, swipe, swiping LEFT constantly. I (Alicia) didn't want to sift through the recycled lesbians in the Raleigh/Durham area any longer, so I opened up my radius far and wide. Unbeknownst to me, my future wife, was also over the swipe game and was 1 day away from deleting her bumble all together! Manifestation, faith and prayers truly brought us together once I stumbled across her profile. AND WE MATCHED!! I had never sent the first message on that app, but it was something about her that made me type, "Well hi there!! We matched and I have no idea what to say haha"... and well, here we are! -Alicia
She told me she loved handwritten notes. She also informed me at the beginning of our courtship that she is impossible to surprise. Through the grace, patience, and operation-like support of Alicia's friends I was able to pull off a surprise that my wife to be, our daughter Layla, and I will remember and cherish for a lifetime. The proposal did not come without obstacles. A certain nosey little pandemic that we all know well interfered with 3 different plans to pop the question. I digress…. It was a Sunday, Alicia was making dinner, and I went for it! I devised a fake anniversary gift exchange to which my beautiful fiance pulled 4 miniature dry erase boards out that said I LOVE YOU with the last board asking "will you marry me? Yes, no, or maybe?". It was the perfect handwritten note. I got down on one knee and instantly the tears started flowing. She didn't see it coming at all! I poured my soul out to her and she answered by saying the one word I had anticipated and prepared for hearing since our first date; YES. -Nicole
