& this is how it all began

Let’s rewind to the summer of 2019, when Nicole and Alan first locked eyes on a rooftop overlooking Times Square. Under a clear, sunny blue sky, a few words were exchanged between the two. Then a few months went by, and life moved on—until the night of New Year’s Eve 2019. A celebration was hosted at the apartment where Nicole was living. Music was bumping, conversations were flowing, and spirits were high. Two hours before midnight, Alan walked through the door, slightly weary from his flight back home from Florida, but the energy of the soiree recharged his enthusiasm. Nicole and Alan grew close that night, and—dare I spill—even shared a kiss. Is this what we call fate? Not without perseverance! Alan cordially invited Nicole out for dinner, but it was not until the third invitation that Nicole accepted. One Friday evening in January 2020, Alan and Nicole met up after work in Chelsea. They started their night with espresso martinis at the impressive Starbucks Reserve. Then, they filled their stomachs with delicious ceviche, tacos, and margaritas at Los Mariscos across the street. "Do you like ice skating?" asked Alan. "I love ice skating," responded Nicole. So, they spent an hour ice skating on a rooftop at Pier 17 in Seaport, with the backdrop of the Brooklyn Bridge twinkling with lights from the cars driving past. "Do you like karaoke?" asked Alan. "I like karaoke," said Nicole. Thus, they headed over to the West Village and walked down the stairs of a bar, where Nicole clapped along to Alan singing his heart out to the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The date didn't end there—well, for the night it did. Come the next morning, Alan and Nicole got lunch together in Bushwick, Brooklyn. While a little woozy from the night before, the two were enjoying each other's company and staring out the window at the world going by when they noticed something. Or some things. A few bright blue mopeds were parked all around the street. Nothing like a quick Google search to answer their curiosity: could the bright blue mopeds be rented? In no time, Alan had set up an account, and Nicole was giving her ID to a man she barely knew to complete the transaction. They hurried to finish their meals, ran to a shiny blue moped, and—"beep beep"—it turned on! They spent the rest of the day (and years after) scootering through the neighborhoods of New York City. Now, they continue their journey across the country on another coast, where they are living happily ever after.
