Nicole and Eric met at a mutual friends birthday party at Union Jacks in Bethesda, MD. Funny enough, there were so many people at this party the two met as they were on their way out. After a brief "hello" then "goodbye" Nicole and Eric knew this would not be goodbye for too long. A few weekends later, the two gathered at a friends house to watch the Duke vs Syracuse Men's Basketball game. Eric had no dog in the fight but was cheering for Syracuse because of his family roots in New York. Nicole was slightly alarmed because she has been a Duke fan for as long as she can remember. Duke ended up losing the game in overtime 89-91, but it was at that point Nicole knew that Eric's selection of college basketball teams in no way reflected his true character. The rest is history.
For the past few years, Nicole and Eric have been taking summer vacations the week of Nicole's birthday to Wildwood, New Jersey and staying at her family's condo in The Crest. This year was no different. Their long-time friends, Katie and Alex Dixon were up for the weekend to partake in the birthday festivities. The group planned to take a trip to Atlantic City, NJ during the day on Saturday August 12th due to the off and on rain showers that were occurring. They were all set to go until it started to pour again. To pass the time, they decided to watch a few episodes of The Office while waiting out the storm. Once the rain subsided, Katie and Alex told Nicole they had to set up a "Birthday Surprise". Eric suggested to take Nicole on a walk down the boardwalk. The two arrived at the iconic "Wildwood" sign right off the boardwalk and asked Nicole to marry him. Before Eric could even show her the ring, she said "YES"! This location is unique because there are cameras with a live video feed. Our friends and family were able to watch this special moment unfold from home as well! Nicole and Eric are so excited to celebrate this next chapter in their lives with you. See you in Jersey!
