I met Willie several years ago through working at the Outdoor Program and Climbing Center at SOU. We quickly became great friends, climbing buddies, and eventually housemates. Since, we have found ourselves on many various adventures, always coming out the other side stronger for our shared experience

Lex has known Nico since the last time berets were cool. You'll most likely find them working behind a bar, typing furiously on a laptop, riding their bike, helping big magical art pieces come to life, or cooking up something overly elaborate in their kitchen.

Natasha and Nico first met working at an outdoor education company in California. They made a commitment while they were there to be best Naturalists that they could be. This meant that their noses were often in books and they would constantly talk about all of the nature things. They bonded over long walks, glitter, and astrology. Backcountry babes forever!

I met Willie via our mutual friend Zach Green. I was working as the motor pool mechanic at Southern Oregon University at the time, Outdoor Coordinators and motor pool mechanics can get to be in a pretty intimate relationship pretty quickly. Zach called me over as Willie and Zach were sitting in Willie's old Toyota pickup one day at work. I believe Zach said something to the effect of "You're going to want to get to know this guy" to Willie and the same to me, if you've ever owned a Toyota pickup with a 3 liter v6 that might make a whole lot more sense. That truck is gone and really I didn't get to spend much time working on it but a friendship grew and I couldn't think of a better one.

I don't actually remember where I met Willie, but I do remember our first adventure. It was to Acher Rock for a climbing trip. I must admit the beginning of the car ride was a bit uncertain. Who is this Willie Long. Is he cool? Is that his real name? And so I break the tension, if not ours, then mine, by asking a peculiar but simple question. (It is no secret he tells the story to his students all the time . If you're so curious you can ask him as well). The tension was broken and I think we became friends. After that trip Willie and I studied together, lived together, worked and had many adventures together, and some misadventures. He does love his adventures. I think he is going to love this on the most. You have just the perfect amount of rocks Willie😉 . Well done.

Caroline has been a part of Nico's life since they were earning their undergrad degrees at SOU. Since then Willie and Nico have become consistent climbing partners for Caroline. They were even there for a Caroline's longest multipitch, which is no easy thing. To have supportive friend on and off the climbing role has been a BIG part in all of their lives and shared memories.

I met Willie in 2005 while searching for a bike shop and hoping to find some riding buddies. Little did I know that I’d find a lot more than a riding buddy - I found a lifelong friend.

I met Willie on my first day of college in the fall of 2012. He and my fellow groomsman Glen were leaders of a whitewater kayaking trip for incoming students. In the following years we became colleagues, then friends, and now housemates. I have enjoyed many adventures, fun projects, and home cooked meals with Willie and Nico. I am fortunate to have such wonderful lifelong friends and wish them the best in their new adventure!
