Yes! Optional round-trip shuttles will be available from designated pick-up points in Medellín. Please note that shuttles will not pick up at individual hotels or Airbnbs.

What currency is used in Colombia? Can I use credit cards?

Answer

Colombia’s official currency is the Colombian peso (COP). Most restaurants, shops, and hotels in Medellín accept major credit and debit cards, especially Visa and Mastercard. We recommend bringing a card with no foreign transaction fees. Cash is still useful for taxis, tips, and small vendors. The easiest place to exchange cash is at the airport upon arrival.

La moneda oficial de Colombia es el peso colombiano (COP). La mayoría de los restaurantes, tiendas y hoteles en Medellín aceptan tarjetas de crédito y débito, especialmente Visa y Mastercard. Recomendamos llevar una tarjeta sin cargos por transacciones internacionales. El efectivo sigue siendo útil para taxis, propinas y pequeños comercios. El lugar más fácil para cambiar dinero es en el aeropuerto al llegar.

How can I get around Medellín?

Answer

Medellín is easy to navigate with many safe transportation options. Taxis and ride apps like Uber, DiDi, and Cabify are widely available, but we do not recommend hailing taxis directly off the street. Instead, use apps or ask your hotel/restaurant to call a registered taxi for you. The Metro system (trains, cable cars, and trams) is also clean, reliable, and a unique way to see the city. Walking is enjoyable in neighborhoods like El Poblado, Laureles, and Manila, but we recommend ride apps or taxis at night.

Medellín es fácil de recorrer y cuenta con muchas opciones de transporte seguras. Los taxis y aplicaciones como Uber, DiDi y Cabify están disponibles, pero no se recomienda tomar taxis directamente en la calle. Es mejor usar aplicaciones o pedir en su hotel/restaurante que soliciten un taxi registrado. El sistema de Metro (trenes, teleféricos y tranvías) también es limpio, confiable y una forma especial de conocer la ciudad. Caminar es agradable en barrios como El Poblado, Laureles y Manila, aunque por la noche recomendamos usar aplicaciones o taxi solicitado.
