Brooke and Nico both attended the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!), and though running in mutual friend groups, it wasn’t until they were both in Atlanta Spring of 2015 that their paths finally crossed. Not long after meeting, Brooke had to leave for her planned time in Italy working as an Au pair. Despite the distance, the couple stayed connected through transatlantic snail mail and many texts, letting their relationship grow with words. When Brooke returned to the States, their relationship truly began to take off. Before they knew it, they were traveling all over the US chasing new rock-climbing crags, hitting music festivals, rafting rivers, riding mountains, and visiting their friends scattered across the country. In January 2017, a job opportunity had Brooke and Nico packing up to move together to Northern Virginia, where they still live today. Their adventure dog Tater Tot of course came too, ready for new places to explore. While living in Virginia, their outdoor climbing habits led them to meet new friends who introduced them to the hidden gem that is West Virginia. They fell in love with the wild and wonderful mountains, and with the wild and wonderful people of West Virginia. Their circle of friends continued to grow, as did their relationship with each other. Nico’s proposal in January 2021 was a true reflection of their relationship. While enjoying a climbing trip in Red Rock Canyon Nevada, Nico proposed on top of the rock crag the Hunter S. Thompson dome, and Brooke excitedly said yes. (Picture at top of page!) Brooke and Nico have been fortunate to expand their adventures internationally, and even recently visited Amsterdam with friends to see the bluegrass artist, Billy Strings! During their travels, they have fallen in love with Mexico, where they have decided to tie the knot. The wedding is on December 9th, 2023 at the beautiful Secrets Maroma Beach resort in Cancun, Mexico.
