Sam and I met on my 28th birthday while I was out with friends. He happened to work with one of my friend's, and she introduced us. Sam swears he was interested first, but I still say it was me that was interested in him first. After we were introduced, he kept asking me to dance. Everyone knows I'm a terrible dancer, but that night I didn't care. I danced my little heart out. About a week or so later, Sam asked me if I would be able to go dancing with him again soon. The rest is history.
I had a hunch the proposal was coming soon, and Sam knew that I knew. The day of the proposal he had planned to visit family in the Nashville area to look a vehicle he was interested in purchasing. In the days leading up to our small day trip I suggested we go to a nice dinner while in the city. Sam agreed it was a good idea. The day before our adventure I asked if he had any specific plan on where we were eating, and if I needed to wear something nice. Sam replied that he wasn't sure on dinner yet, but to wear something nice but comfortable - preferably blue because he would be wearing his blue button up. The day arrives and I'm giddy with anticipation for our day. We spend some time with his family before heading into the city. I remember specifically asking where he planned on eating, and his response was - I don't care. I guess the food court at the mall. By this point, I've assumed today's not the day and he just wanted me to dress up to throw me off. We had a nice dinner at one of the new restaurants in the mall, and then we walked around for a bit. Upon leaving the mall, Sam suggests we go to the hotel to look around. He insists that there's a "really cool arcade" in there we should go to. When we arrived at the hotel, we realize it's going to be really expensive to park in front of the hotel. I drove in a circle twice trying to find somewhere to park, and end up getting really frustrated. I let Sam drive, and he parks at the mall so we have to walk - in the rain - to the hotel. When we finally arrive, I rush to the bathroom to assess the damage. My dress and hair are soaked. After fixing what I can, I return to Sam and he directs me to the Cascades - an indoor jungle. After wandering for a bit, I am distracted by a tree. As I'm trying to show Sam, he falls into the pathway and I'm very concerned. While getting up, he stays on one knee, and that's when I see both my and his family. His mom is holding a sign that says Will You Marry Me?
