They first met on tinder after months of lackluster dates and ghosted conversations and thought there was something there. They decided to meet up on our first date at Zeppelins. Nick, thinking ahead, figured that he would get there 15 minutes early to get his name in so they could be seated quickly. Being happy hour on Friday, this quickly backfired as he was told that the wait for a table was over an hour. He called Whitney to tell her the bad news and off the top of head came up with a backup plan. He suggested that they should instead head to Wine Styles. Whitney was hungry and asked if they served food and Nick replied “I hope so”. When they arrived, they were thankfully greeted with a quick table and, most importantly, a food menu! They ended up talking it up all night long and were even kicked out after Wine Styles closed their doors for the evening. I guess they weren't satisfied with the seemingly limited amount of time they had to spend in each other's company so they have been together ever since!
You read that correctly. She beat him to the punch. For anyone who knows them both, that will probably come as no surprise to you. Whitney considered proposing years before but figured he wanted to do the honor. Over the following years, she proposed jokingly every so often, but was too nervous to do the real thing. A few years passed and she thought...well, why not. Let's do this! So Whitney started planning, in late October of 2022. It had to be perfect. She decided on the date, his birthday. Which was only a little over a month away so she got cracking. She started brainstorming ideas of how she'd do it and clued her bestie in to help her execute it. She found the perfect ring for him at a local ring shop, brushed Tungsten with a hammered finish. Now she just needed to think of the way to give it to him. She thought about wrapping & putting it under the tree since his birthday was just before Christmas. She'd make one of their favorite meals for dinner, buying a new platter that would reveal "Will you marry me?" as he ate. Then one night when she was struggling to sleep, it suddenly came to her. She'd buy him a puzzle box and hide the ring in it! So she started looking for the perfect puzzle box on Etsy and stumbled upon a creator who makes puzzle boxes out of Legos. One of the designs was fashioned to look like a retro Mac computer. It could not fit his personality more! So, she buys the Lego puzzle box and hides the ring in it with a note that read "This time I'm serious." The evening arrived and she'd made reservations for his birthday at a local fancy restaurant. She gave him the wrapped gift as soon as they ordered and began to worry that he wouldn't solve the puzzle by the end of the night. She shouldn't have feared, for he solved it and opened the Mac computer's screen to reveal the ring. She immediately panicked, worrying he'd say no, but he smiled, real big, and said "Let's do this"
