We met on the back patio at the Sigma Chi House at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Go Vols!! Phi Mu and Sigma Chi were paired together for our first Homecoming in 2012. Nick was a pledge at the time and was one of the few chosen to partake in Smokey's Howl, a homecoming spirit competition that takes place between several organizations across the campus. Luckily for me, I got to participate in our Rocky Top routine and meet my lucky guy. Nick caught my eye instantly... it was "hard" to miss the guy constantly throwing back tucks. We spent several weeks together practicing for the event and our pledge classes even had a Halloween party together. It's funny to think back to those times... if only I knew back then that I would spend forever with the kid dressed up as a monkey! We stayed friends over the next year and it wasn't until October of 2013 that Nick asked me on a date, well to their annual date party, Moonshiners. After that, the rest was history. God works in mysterious ways and if He sends you your soul mate dressed as a monkey go run and find a banana.
April 6, 2019 - Nick's fam was in town and we were supposed to meet them at a nice restaurant for dinner. We went to one of our favorite local bars, Neighbors, before to get a few happy hour beers. After a few drinks we still had some time to kill so we headed to Bicentennial Park. He walked me to the middle of the Park Bells where there were strings playing my absolute FAVORITE SONG. He popped down on one knee, with the most beautiful ring in the world and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. I said YAAAS, duh!! After, we went to his sister and bro-in-law's house where our family and friends awaited our arrival to celebrate the night away! It was perfect!
