We met on the first day of John's senior year and Nicki's freshman year of college. We were both runners for the school's Cross-Country and Track and Field teams, and met on the first day of summer training in August 2012. Just a few months, and hundreds of miles of trails later, we went on our first date :) The rest is history!

For our fifth-year anniversary, John flew back to Washington, D.C. to spend the week with Nicki. For the weekend, we decided to go back to Philadelphia, where we met, to celebrate. That Friday evening, John told Nicki we were going to dinner and took her back to the park on Penn's campus where they had their first conversation on the day they met. He got down on one knee and asked her to marry him :) After she said YES they called their families to spread the news, went to dinner in Center City, and drank champagne. The next day, John had planned a surprise brunch with all of their closest friends from different cities!
