We met in the winter of 2020—James at the beach and Nicki in Lake Oswego—connected first by long conversations that stretched into the night. There were shared photos, thoughtful messages, and many miles traveled back and forth, each step requiring a bit of effort and a lot of intention. It didn’t take long for us to realize that what we had found was special—and that we wanted to build a life together. We discovered early on how much we had in common: shared values, a deep love for the outdoors, an active lifestyle, and a steadfast belief that family comes first. That includes the incredible circle of friends who feel like family and bring so much joy to our lives. Our time together has been filled with adventure and ease in equal measure—a partnership that brings out the best in both of us, even during life’s more challenging moments. We’ve traveled, surfed, attended golf tournaments, and celebrated meaningful milestones, all while splitting our time between the beach and the city, settling into a rhythm that feels natural.
