How we met

First comes wine, then comes marriage

We met at the Chadsworth Townhome wine social in July of 2019. I (Nicki) was attending the wine social in Chadsworth at the pool. As we were mingling with the other residents of the community, we met Hunter who was the social butterfly of the party. Little did I know, I had just met my future husband. During the next few months we remained friends and would see each other at the pool every now and then. Later on we would have our first date which was one of the best dates either of us had ever been on. We started at the Atlanta Fish Market for oysters and dirty martinis. For dinner, we moved to King and Duke and had a whole fish, pork skins and shrimp. For the nightcap, we walked over to Atlas and had a glass of wine. I let Hunter know before our date that I had to be home by 11pm since it was during the week. He had me home right on the dot. At some point in the middle of our date, my gut was telling me this man might be the one. After our first date we were inseparable. This night was the beginning of forever. During our time dating, covid struck the world. Although it was a stressful time, this was the time we fell in love. Being on lockdown for months together sealed the deal that we were perfect for each other. We had so much fun and got along beautifully. We cooked five star meals every night, drank fine wine, grew a garden of love, made a home together and adopted our cat Lord McCheeks. Two years later and we are now engaged planning our dream wedding in the vineyards. I can honestly say I am the LUCKIEST girl in the world that I get to marry Hunter. He is undoubtedly one of the most amazing humans I have ever met. Kind, compassionate, smart, SO handsome, funny, loving and the list goes on and on. June cannot come fast enough! Hunter, our beautiful relationship these past two years has been nothing but a DREAM! Every single day with you is perfection. I cant wait to marry you and start our beautiful life together!!

The Proposal

"Are you sure??!!!??!!???!!"

Originally I had planned to propose to Nicki in Iceland, unfortunately like everything else in the past year COVID ruined that plan. My back up plan was Sonoma or Napa. This was also not feasible due to COVID. I finally decided on the Azalea Bowl at Callaway Gardens. During the first week of April everything is in full bloom. I told Nicki that we were going to Callaway Gardens with our Friends Todd and Sarah to walk around, drink wine, and look at the Azaleas which would be in full bloom in early April. I also told her that my cousin Phillip and friend David would be meeting us there as well. Unbeknownst to Nicki I had made arrangements to have my Parents and her family there as well in a different part of the park. When we arrived we all grabbed some wine and went on a walk through the Azalea Bowl. After some time passed I suggested that we stop to take pictures. With all the cameras on us I got on one knee and asked Nicki to marry me. Her response "Are you sure???!!!!???!!!" So I guess she kind of asked me to marry her?
