Our story begins with a classic office romance, only we were both still teenagers and our office was at the beach! That summer, we both got hired as assistants for the Ventura County Junior Lifeguard program and became great friends! A few months later, Nick asked Zoe to his winter formal and we never looked back.
Throughout college, we started to realize that our future together would likely be more than just boyfriend and girlfriend. Not wanting to spend our first few years as a married couple apart, we decided that we would wait until after we both graduated from school to get married. When Zoe graduated, she knew that Nick could propose at any time! She thought, "maybe it'll happen at my graduation party, or maybe on our anniversary (in July), and if not then, definitely by Christmas!" One warm summer Tuesday afternoon, Nick called Zoe and invited her to dinner at Fillmore's finest restaurant (El Pescador, of course). Afterward, we went up in the Fillmore mountains where we frequently hike, BBQ, or watch the sunset. As the sun was setting, Zoe felt Nick's heart beating out of his chest, and asked, "are you okay?" Nick bent down to pick up his jacket (in 80-degree heat) and said, "I should have done this a looooonnngggg time ago" and pulled out a ring!
