This is Hawaii and we're going to be on the beach, so think stylish yet comfortable beach-inspired attire. Think breezy fabrics, sundresses, linen shirts, and dressy sandals or flats (heels not recommended!). For those attending the ceremony, we’d love for guests to incorporate a natural color palette similar to the above image into their outfits and we kindly ask that guests avoid loud or overly bold colors and patterns, so the overall look remains soft, cohesive, and in harmony with the natural beach surroundings.
Currently the only planned activities are on the schedule page. The Friday Welcome gathering, Ceremony and Reception. We will be trying to organize a few group activities leading up to the event once we have a better of who is coming and for what dates. There is an optional question in the RSVP to provide the dates you will be on the island that will help with this.
With Kauai's small size, anywhere on the island is an option as nothing is an extremely far drive. We will say most of the main wedding activities will be either on the East Shore or South Shore of the Island. There are a few links in the Travel tab, so many good options.
We have been advised that having a rental car is the best option. While Uber and Cabs do exist on the island, the drivers are limited so they can be unreliable or have long wait times. I know some families are going to share rental cars between them to split costs. As you would expect, easiest place to rent a car is at or near the Lihue Airport. They have several of the larger chain companies (Avis, Budget, Sixt, Enterprise, etc.) but the few smaller more local companies are highly recommended and have great reviews.
Kauai, known as 'The Garden Isle', is a small island and is known for its natural beauty, sculpted mountains, rugged canyons and pristine beaches. It has small-island charm with relaxed towns, welcoming residents and is known for being less 'commercialized' than the more popular Hawaiian destinations.
We realize traveling to Hawaii is a lot to ask in so many ways. So we totally understand anyone that would not be able to attend. Just to note, we will be having a casual celebration get together back on the mainland closer to home for the wider group of family and friends in the Spring.
No. All board games, card games, or anything similar are strictly prohibited. Anyone caught with board games during their stay will be immediately banished from the island.
