Our state capital is beautiful! Check out the Supreme Court where Nick clerked and make sure to go all the way up to the top if its open. Careful: it is kind of a labyrinth in there! Go on Saturday morning for the can't miss Farmer's Market! All around the capitol building is "the square" with many fantastic places to eat.
This weekly farmer's market is amazing! You can find it every Saturday all around the capitol. Enjoy the wares of local farmers and make sure to pick up some cheese curds and meat sticks to snack on throughout the day.
This bustling street with shops, restaurants, and of course, bars is iconic Madison, connecting the Capitol to the UW Campus.
Another iconic Madison Landmark! Just off the capitol square, this terrace was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and offers great views.
Talk about a Madison Icon! The Memorial Union Terrace is an amazing place to relax, share a pitcher, and people and dog watch. On the way there, make sure to peek up Bascom hill to see the law school where Nick spent many an hour.
This state-of-the-art botanical garden is one of Teagan's favorite places. The outdoor area is FREE and the amazing tropical indoors is only $6 per adult.
In the park across from the botanical garden is a wonderful outdoor Biergarten with a great selection, cornhole, and a capitol view. One of our saving graces during the pandemic as it is all outside!
If you would like to escape the city living and go a nature walk, nothing beats Picnic point! If you have the time, walk on the lakeshore path from the Memorial Union Terrace all the way to the point. You'll also get a great feel of some of UW's campus.
You'll run into breweries galore all over Madison but Giant Jones is Nick's favorite and Old Sugar is a distillery that is Teagan's favorite. Check out the east side trail of breweries and distilleries to explore even more within walking distance.
Bar and arcade?? Can't go wrong! Tons of vintage and new games, pinball, a board game room, and a fantastic bar. Owned by an acquaintance! In the "Willy Street" neighborhood.
One of our favorite bakeries and brunch places! Get a loaf to snack on :)
One of the BEST Laotian and Thai food places in the city! Very very popular.
This is a go to for a crazy good diner! Breakfast all day? Yes please! Burgers and vegan options? Yes please! It’s a crown pleaser in the Atwood neighborhood.
Totally delicious local ice cream just steps away from our wedding venue! With a big patio next to the bike path it's ideal for a summer day. (There is also a location on State Street!)
"But how will I get to all these amazing things?" you ask. Well, BCycle is a great way to get around! These rentable electric bikes are a blast. It is very easy to bike between all of these recommended places, even directly from some of the recommended hotels! Just make sure there's a BCycle port wherever you need to stop. Download the free app to get the bikes and use the website to learn more! If you ever have a problem they are GREAT on the phone.
