Things To Do

We are so excited to share a few of our favorite things to do with you! To be honest, we struggled to make this list because there is just so much. It is painful that we can't tour each of you around personally! Downton Madison is an isthmus, a narrow strip of land between two bodies of water. Get ready to see the word isthmus a lot. Unfortunately, the lakes are named the very similar sounding, Monona and Mendota. We gravitate towards the east side of Madison, the Hippy-er maybe more grungy side.

Wisconsin State Capitol

2 East Main Street, Madison, WI 53703
, (608) 266-0382

Our state capital is beautiful! Check out the Supreme Court where Nick clerked and make sure to go all the way up to the top if its open. Careful: it is kind of a labyrinth in there! Go on Saturday morning for the can't miss Farmer's Market! All around the capitol building is "the square" with many fantastic places to eat.

Dane County Farmers' Market

2 East Main Street, Madison, WI 53703
, (608) 455-1999

This weekly farmer's market is amazing! You can find it every Saturday all around the capitol. Enjoy the wares of local farmers and make sure to pick up some cheese curds and meat sticks to snack on throughout the day.

State Street

State Street, Madison, WI

This bustling street with shops, restaurants, and of course, bars is iconic Madison, connecting the Capitol to the UW Campus.

Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center

1 John Nolen Drive, Madison, WI 53703
, (608) 261-4000

Another iconic Madison Landmark! Just off the capitol square, this terrace was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and offers great views.

Memorial Union Terrace

800 Langdon Street, Madison, WI 53703
, (608) 265-3000

Talk about a Madison Icon! The Memorial Union Terrace is an amazing place to relax, share a pitcher, and people and dog watch. On the way there, make sure to peek up Bascom hill to see the law school where Nick spent many an hour.

Olbrich Botanical Gardens

3330 Atwood Avenue, Madison, WI 53704
, (608) 246-4550

This state-of-the-art botanical garden is one of Teagan's favorite places. The outdoor area is FREE and the amazing tropical indoors is only $6 per adult.

The Biergarten at Olbrich Park

3527 Atwood Avenue, Madison, WI 53714

In the park across from the botanical garden is a wonderful outdoor Biergarten with a great selection, cornhole, and a capitol view. One of our saving graces during the pandemic as it is all outside!

Picnic Point

2000 University Bay Drive, Madison, WI 53705

If you would like to escape the city living and go a nature walk, nothing beats Picnic point! If you have the time, walk on the lakeshore path from the Memorial Union Terrace all the way to the point. You'll also get a great feel of some of UW's campus.

Giant Jones Brewing & Old Sugar Distillery

South Brearly Street, Madison, WI 53703
, (608) 620-5172

You'll run into breweries galore all over Madison but Giant Jones is Nick's favorite and Old Sugar is a distillery that is Teagan's favorite. Check out the east side trail of breweries and distilleries to explore even more within walking distance.

I/O Arcade Bar

924 Williamson Street, Madison, WI 53703

Bar and arcade?? Can't go wrong! Tons of vintage and new games, pinball, a board game room, and a fantastic bar. Owned by an acquaintance! In the "Willy Street" neighborhood.

Madison Sourdough

916 Williamson Street, Madison, WI 53703

One of our favorite bakeries and brunch places! Get a loaf to snack on :)

Hạ Long Bay Restaurant

One of the BEST Laotian and Thai food places in the city! Very very popular.

Monty's Blue Plate Diner

2089 Atwood Avenue, Madison, WI 53704

This is a go to for a crazy good diner! Breakfast all day? Yes please! Burgers and vegan options? Yes please! It’s a crown pleaser in the Atwood neighborhood.

Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream Co.
