Nick's Story: I had only been in Phoenix for a few months when my coworker invited me to eat with some of friends from Taiwan. I quickly became friends with a few of the guys, and they soon asked me, "Hey Nick, are you single? Because we have someone we'd like you to meet." The then showed me a blurry picture of a girl playing in the snow. All that was visible was her nose and eyes! I awkwardly replied, "Yeah, I guess she's cute, but I can't really see her face...." Well next thing you know, I am being invited out for dinner, and there's an empty seat next to me. I wonder who it was for? Hmmm..... You can imagine my surprise when Rosie showed up to the restaurant. I didn't even know she was the same girl from the picture! Needless to say, I was happy to discover that behind all of that winter clothing was an absolutely beautiful woman. Our friends pushed us to exchange contact info, and the rest is history! Nick’s Story（中文翻譯） 我到鳳凰城才幾個月，有一天同事邀請我和一群來自台灣的朋友一起吃飯。我很快就跟其中幾個男生成了朋友，沒多久他們就問我： 「欸 Nick，你現在單身嗎？因為我們有一個人想介紹你認識。」 接著他們拿出一張模糊的照片，照片裡是一個在雪地裡的女生，只看得到她的眼睛和鼻子！ 我有點尷尬地回答說：「嗯……看起來蠻可愛的啦，但我其實看不太到她的臉。」 沒想到不久後，我就被約去吃晚餐。到了餐廳，我發現我旁邊有一個空位。心裡想著： 「這個位子是留給誰的呢？」 就在這時，Rosie 走進了餐廳。 我完全沒想到她就是照片裡的那個女生！當下真的又驚又喜，也很開心發現原來那身厚雪 依底下，是一位非常漂亮的女生。朋友們立刻起鬨，要我們交換聯絡方式，而接下來的故事，就這樣展開了。 Rosie’s Story（English translation） One day, a vendor asked me, “Are you single right now?” I replied, “Yes!” She said, “I know a very handsome American guy who can speak Chinese, and he also works at your company.” I searched for him in our company system and saw his photo. Honestly, he wasn’t really my type—he had bangs covering one side of his forehead—but I thought, Why not get to know him anyway? Later, they arranged a group dinner. When I arrived at the restaurant and saw him in person, I thought, “Hmm… he looks much better than his photo!” (Haha.) After dinner, our friends said I should give Nick a ride because there was no more space in the other car. We chatted a bit during the drive, and I found out that he was optimistic, cheerful, and very serious about learning different languages. I told him I could teach him Chinese since I used to be a Mandarin teacher. And after that… many more interesting things happened.
