March 27th, 2010, I (Riley), was teaching a Pilates class. At the end of the class a woman came up to me and asked me how old I was. I told her it was my birthday and that I was 20 years old. Once she wished me a happy birthday she told me about her handsome son, Nick. During that conversation my Aunt stepped in and said, "are you trying to set my niece up with your son?" After a few minutes of talking, and meeting my "future mother-in-law", we went on our separate ways. She called Nick and said, "I found your future bride." May 4th, 2010 - Nick asked me to be his girlfriend and we have celebrated that date together for 7 years!!! During the 7 years we have seen each other's strengths, weaknesses, quirks, tears and laughter. We have become best friends, which made it very easy for me to say YES on October 22nd, 2016. The Engagement - Nick has always mentioned how he would like to go to Marquette, MI during the fall to see the changing colors and to visit a family friend. It was not a surprise to me when we woke up on Saturday, October 22nd, 2016 and told me we were going. The thought of coming back engaged never crossed my mind during that 7 hour drive. I was clueless of all the thoughts that were running through Nick's head during that drive! I couldn't have asked for a bigger surprise. While walking around on the volcanic lava rocks overlooking Lake Superior (legs shaking from the height!), Nick dropped down on one knee. The laughing and the crying began (from both of us). I was lost for words. It was the happiest day of my life and I will never forget it. Let's just say....after he asked, my legs were REALLY shaking!!!
