We’re Eloping!

Eloping used to mean to secretly get married or without permission, but modern day elopement is considered a non-traditional, intimate and intentional way of getting married. Today, elopements come in many flavors. While some will involve a small wedding with two people, necessary witnesses and the officiant, others will include a lot more. Some couples will ask their family members to join them while others will choose to have a very private union. In our case, we have a duty & obligation to raise our children with such values. First and foremost, God. Second, what it means to exchange vows to each other. Third, family. God has created two things: marriage and the Church. The family is the foundation of this plan and the love of husband and wife in marriage is to image God himself in Love. We sat down with our (soon to be) 15 year old daughter and simply mentioned having a destination wedding. Her response, “I don’t mind anything, as long as we’re together.” We were reminded we are not only marrying each other, but also creating unity within our family with this marriage. Along with being meaningful and intentional, an elopement is really about the entire experience. It’s about getting to experience the entire day together, and really be present in the moment when we commit to the love of our life and our family. All that being said, we still request the honor of your presence at our Wedding Shower!

Nevielle returned from an overseas deployment with the Army National Guard earlier that year. Nick was about 3 years into starting up Corals Depot. Nick’s banker was determined to set him up with a “nice girl”. This Wells Fargo banker reached out to Nevielle’s best friend who eventually convinced Nevielle to go on this blind date.
