we wish we had a better "how we met" story than the average college house party..but not all love stories are fairytales, am I right? I think we both agree that early on we knew we had found our "person". The kitchen of the women's soccer house will forever hold a special place in our hearts, and always is good for a laugh when we remember that night. We still consider Meredith (my MOH) our match maker - you can ask her the details on that one!
If anybody knows Nick, they know that his favorite thing in life (second to me...) is golf. We were home visiting his family in Massena, NY for a week of vacation. My mom had come to enjoy the weekend as well and we finally got to show her where we had made so many summer memories. It was a typical Sunday morning for us - Nick made a tee time, promised me Tim Horton's before the round, and asked me to ride along (something we do often as my golf game needs some serious work). In Massena, I always like to ride the back 9 because its along the water - talk about views! The golf round went on like normal, besides that Nick's golf game was not his best performance. I blamed it on a potential hangover, the greens, or anything else I could come up with not realizing it was because he was SO nervous for what was about to happen! He had me help him throughout the round by pulling the flag when he was putting - little did I know he was training me the whole time. We got to #18 and his ball was pretty far from the hole so he asked me to try and make the last putt. I responded in typical Morgan fashion with "I'll try but it's not going in"..and it didn't. Which set Nick up perfect to have me then pull the flag..when I looked down there were 4 golf balls in the hole that said "Will you marry me?" I picked my head up to see Nick down on one knee and said the easiest YES of my life. To top it off he had our future sister in law, Emma, hiding behind a tree to photograph the whole thing so we never will forget our best day (yet).
Choosing Vermont as the perfect spot for our wedding was an easy decision. We both love the views and spending time in the mountains (new to skiing over here, which is a surprise to most given that I grew up there!). Our story began in Vermont (at Norwich University) so we felt it was only fitting we celebrated our best day there as well. When we visited Sugarbush, it took our breath away. We knew we could picture celebrating with all of our family and friends there. We looked at a few other venues following, but nothing compared. We are planning a mountain top ceremony (yes that means a chair lift entrance!!), followed by a celebration at the base lodge with all of the people that mean so much to us! We hope that you will be able to meet us on the mountain!
