They met on August 24, 2015. It was Maddie's first week of freshman year at Rhodes College when she attended a party at the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. She saw Nick and immediately walked up to introduce herself. (She had no qualms about making the first move!) They spent the entire night chatting. A week later, the two were supposed to go on their first date. Then disaster struck. Hours before their date, Maddie fractured her ankle at cheer tryouts. After a trip to the ER, it was determined she needed to return to her parents to spend the next six weeks on bedrest. Nick texted Maddie almost every day. By the time she returned to campus, Maddie was already smitten. On October 22, 2015, the two finally went on their first date. It was a sorority date party. They started the evening with Mexican food (Maddie's favorite) before heading off to the haunted cornmaze. Nick happily helped Maddie as she hobbled through the maze, at one point catching her as a Jason Vorhees lookalike crashed into her crutches. Three weeks later, on November 5, the two made it official. They have been inseparable ever since.
