I wish we could say that we met at a library or Italy like the movies? HA-HA. Nope. We met through Bumble. I was always afraid of trying dating apps, but one day I said: -What is the worse thing that could happen? He was the only one I matched with, and we started talking… I told him about my story, afraid that he was going to say: Nope, we can not go out because you’re not from here. But in fact, he asked me out, and I said: sure, lets go get coffee. I remember getting ready like I had never been on a date before. I got off work, really excited that I was “going on a date in the USA”. We had agreed that he would pick me up at 6:00, that way my Host parents could see his face, car and tag (Just in case) ;) So, I was ready, waiting for his text saying: “I’m here”. When 30 min before our date I got a text saying: “Hey, sorry, I will not be able to make it today”. I remember being on the couch waiting for him, and said: -I don’t care, I’m ready, I’ll take MYSELF to get coffee, what’s wrong with that?. So I did. The next morning I got a text from him asking me if we could go out (seriously this time), I said: sure. So we went to grab coffee from Starbucks, and we both got a Caramel frapuccino. Coincidence? nope, just our taste haha. After that we decided to go to the Charlotte Premium Outlets, walked around, went into some stores and bought some clothes. It was sooo fun. Made me laugh since day 1. With my “English” he understood every single word I was trying to say, or maybe he didn’t but pretended he did. It made me think that English was my first language and Spanish my second one. But I know that if you ask him now if he did understand everything I said on our first date, he would say: -Hmmmm I don’t think so. Or for the people that know Nick 100% know that he would say: I do NOT remember. We both knew we were made for each other, so we decided to spend the rest of our lives together.
