We met the modern way—on Hinge—where Nick’s profile confidently declared “green flags...brunettes,” and Libby, very much a blonde, decided to match anyway… mostly because he was 6’4”, played basketball in college, and offered the potential of very tall, red-headed, athletic children. Nick was interested right away, and Libby wasn’t quite as quick to agree. After a bit of back and forth (and Nick doing his best to keep the conversation going), Libby eventually said yes to a first date—mostly to see what all the persistence was about. Of course, Libby showed up late to that first date, setting the tone perfectly. Despite that, the connection was there, and what started as a casual meeting turned into the start of a great adventure. They dated through Libby’s time in grad school, while Nick was starting his first job after grad school in healthcare and quickly learning that real life mostly consists of patients, charting, and wondering what day it is. Eventually, they took a leap of faith and moved to California together—and finally lived out Nick’s lifelong dream of getting a dog (who now runs the household). And somehow, that first date turned into a second, then a third, and now a wedding in Mexico. We truly would not be where we are in our relationship without the love, support, and encouragement of our family and friends along the way, and we are so grateful for each and every one of you. We can’t wait to have you all by our sides, cheering us on with margaritas and tequila in Mexico as we start this new chapter together.
