It's been over nine years since we first met and nearly that long since I followed Kyla out to Japan where we first lived together in a little apartment in Toyama. Since then we have supported each other through grad school, our first years in teaching and school social work respectively, and buying our first home together in Oakland. I think for both of us this wedding, more than anything else, is a chance to celebrate all that with you. It feels pretty cliche to say I'm marrying my best friend so I won't (but I kinda just did). All I'll say is I'm marrying a badass, and I'm glad you get to be there with me.
What we want more than anything is for everyone to come together and have a good time. Be ready to eat up, drink up (optional), and get down (not optional). The ceremony will be a simple one (and brief!) so be at the Mills Chapel at 3:30 or you might miss it. After that is a quick walk to the Student Union Hall for beer and wine, followed by a buffet dinner, and then the main event - your dance moves.
