Let me tell you that this story was a BATTLE! Back in the day, I used to work at a BBQ restaurant as a bartender. One day... a regular of mine had brought in his friend Chris who was known as the king of Iron Mans. Soon after this initial meeting, he started coming in quite often and requesting my section, leading to many hours of conversation! Eventually, Chris brought his wife Tracy in and we immediately hit it off! Time and time again, they would frequent Red Hot and Blue BBQ and we all grew into close friends. I started to fall in love with this couple after several years without EVER meeting them outside the walls of that very restaurant. One evening, Tracy made a comment that she had a very handsome and well-mannered son (who was also a Dallas Fire Fighter). After many months, this mystery son was out of mind, out of sight until one night. The match-makers themselves brought Nick into one of my booths to surprise me. I was soo very nervous and could not believe he was exactly like the picture I painted behind my eyes. As time went on, my mind gravitated to the lost memory of this hero of a son. I think I reached out to Nick 4 or 5 times over the span of a year to take me out but was turned down in every attempt. In a freak accident, my best friend was injured on a motorcycle one night. I posted on social media her in the hospital and warned my friends about the dangers of motorcycles. Almost immediately, Nick texted me asking if there was anything he could do to aid in the situation. At this point, the doctors had done their job and bandaged my friend up to begin healing. Turning down his help, led him to ask if he could take me out for drinks. My heart literally sank and butterflies swarmed my stomach. I quickly texted back, "FINALLY!" A week later, Nick fancied me to a quaint jazz club and a movie. I have never believed in love at first sight, but this was more magical than I could have imagined. From that night forward he became the love of my life!
