On May 2nd, 1992, Julia was at her best friend's house with her girlfriends on the corner of Madison Avenue and North 4th in Mankato when a sharp-looking Monte Carlo drove by. Of course, the girls couldn't help but holler. The guys in the car came around again and stopped. The driver walked up, and Julia stammered to ask him his name, feeling silly because it was written on his wrestling jacket: "Nick." They spent the evening cruising around town, not wanting the night to end. They parted ways. Julia thought she would never see him again. Remember, this was before the days of cellphones and emails, and he was a Senior in High School from Nicollet, which back then was a long-distance phone call and worlds away. The next day, after Julia returned home, she was catching up on sleep on the couch when there was a knock on the door!! Nick bumped into her friends at the mall, and they told him where she lived (thanks for the assist, girls). They were inseparable for a time, and young love was amazing, all while life kept moving, teaching them lessons together and then carving their ways for themselves as individuals. On their own paths, they were blessed with four (two each) of the most incredible humans to call their children. Except for a few random phone calls over the years, their paths would not cross again until 2009, when Nick decided to take a Facebook class. He thought it would be fun, but little did he know there would be a familiar face on the friend suggestions when he logged in. A daytime adventure with the kids for bowling, where Nick said he recognized Juia immediately because her smile was huge, was their first face-to-face meeting in years. The new beginning was often confusing, pulling between the feelings that seemed to have never faded and caution because of life lessons along the way, but something still just always felt right. Something just felt like "home," no matter what curve came along. As Nick grew to create his own business and the trials that come with that, with its long, uncaring hours and sleepless, painful nights, while Julia moved through school and career changes before finding her spot, they did it together, knowing that these things were all just temporary life issues; they stuck together, and things just felt less defeating. Now, here we are, Thirty-Three years to the night we met, sharing with all of you the love and strength we have grown together. Wow, what a webbed journey that kept bringing back together a Simple Man and the Gypsy hearted girl who was looking for her home.
