FAQs

Question

Do I need a visa to travel to the US?

Answer

Guests traveling from Europe do not need a visa for a short stay. You will need an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization), which allows you to travel to the U.S. for tourism (including attending a wedding) for up to 90 days. Apply via the official website: https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov

Question

Do I need a car while staying on Long Island?

Answer

Transportation from Huntington village to the Widmer Residence will be provided on the wedding day. Having a rental car can be very convenient, as Long Island is quite spread out. That said, Uber/Lyft work well, especially for shorter distances or evenings out.

Question

How far is Huntington from New York City?

Answer

Huntington is about 1–1.5 hours from Manhattan, depending on traffic or the train. It’s very easy to take the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR): trains run frequently and take you directly to the heart of Manhattan (Penn Station or Grand Central Station). It’s a comfortable and stress-free way to explore the city.

Question

Where can I stay?

Answer

We’ve put together a small overview of hotels near the venue under the Travel section, along with a few transportation tips to hopefully make planning a little easier. Of course, you are very welcome to book any hotel that fits your budget and preferences. Airbnb can also be a great option if you are traveling with a group.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Yes! The dress code is garden formal. We’d love for everyone to dress in a way that feels elegant, festive, and comfortable for an outdoor setting. Think suits, dresses, and summer fabrics, just keep in mind the setting (grass-friendly shoes recommended!).
