Things To Do

We’ve listed some of our favorite places to eat in Virginia Beach and the Eastern Shore, depending on where you’ll be on Friday, along with some options for activities if you have some extra time around wedding festivities! Pay special attention to Sailfest! Cape Charles will be hosting a festival throughout the weekend in celebration of America's Semiquincentennial (and our wedding). See details below.

Chick's Oyster Bar

2143 Vista Circle, Virginia Beach, VA 23451

A laid-back, waterfront seafood spot in Virginia Beach—more about the vibe and location than fine dining. A true VB institution and right near where Haley grew up!

Ocean Eddies Seafood Restaurant

1415 Atlantic Avenue, Virginia Beach, VA 23451

Ocean Eddie’s is a kitschy, no-frills beach spot. It's an oceanfront landmark and just so happens to be where Tom and Bebe had their first date!

Orion's Roof

4201 Atlantic Avenue, Virginia Beach, VA 23451

Check out Orion's for an upscale rooftop dining experience with panoramic views of the coastline. Great sushi, but Haley says try their miso cod.

Becca Restaurant & Garden

4200 Atlantic Avenue, Virginia Beach, VA 23451

Located in the historic Cavalier Hotel (another Virginia Beach landmark), Becca offers a more refined dining experience. Be sure to go the Hunt Room after dinner and grab an Old Fashioned for Nick.

Jungle Golf of Virginia Beach

302 23rd Street, Virginia Beach, VA 23451

Another oceanfront staple. Enjoy some mini-golf nostalgia if you have extra time in town. We may be especially deferential to Jungle Golf since we're a big fan of the owner — hey Trey!

Atlantic Park Surf

365 18th Street, Virginia Beach, VA 23451

This is a brand-new and unique attraction in Virginia Beach. It's a man-made surf lagoon + beach club + entertainment hub that lets you surf perfect waves anytime, regardless of ocean conditions. We haven't been yet, so let us know what you think!

Sailfest

Downtown Cape Charles,

Cape Charles will be hosting a fleet of historic sailing vessels in their harbor over the holiday weekend, as a kick-off to the nationwide celebrations planned for America's 250th birthday. From Friday through Sunday, there will be tons of free events open to the public, including vendor markets, sailboat tours, historical reenactments, live music, fireworks and more. The exact schedule has not been released yet, but will be posted on their website eventually.

Corner Bakery

36 Market Street, Onancock, VA 23417

Corner Bakery is the definition of a beloved local bakery—the kind of place people go out of their way to visit. It's located north of Cape Charles in the town of Onancock (where Haley's Dad grew up). Be sure to stop in to get cream puffs and sweet potato rolls if you're traveling South along Route 13 on your way to the wedding (*closed Sundays).

The Shanty

33 T-1108, Cape Charles, VA 23310

A signature waterfront restaurant on the marina. You'll be able to enjoy fresh seafood while taking in beautiful sunset views.

E&O Pub

133 Mason Avenue, Cape Charles, VA 23310

The Elephant and Octopus is a cozy restaurant and bar located in an old bank. The atmosphere is terrific and you can't go wrong with the menu.

Deadrise Italian Kitchen

425 Mason Avenue, Cape Charles, VA 23310

A casual pizza spot with an outdoor patio. Great spot after a beach day!

Brown Dog Ice Cream

203 Mason Avenue, Cape Charles, VA 23310

Small batch ice cream that has turned this spot into a Cape Charles mainstay.
