Both of us went to Becker schools for our whole lives. We were in the same class in fifth grade, team taught by Mr. Tweten and Mrs. Wiant. Starting in 7th grade, we were in the same math classes until 10th grade. In school we had always at least known of each other. I also became close friends with his sister, Allison through basketball and youth group. After senior year we both decided to attend North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota. We became good friends in our first semester since we had so many classes together in mechanical engineering before I made the decision to switch to architecture.
Nick Picked me up and we went to see Mythical Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore at the movie theater in Fargo. After that, we went to Kroll's Diner and got Knoephla soup and milkshakes. The movie was mediocre but the company couldn't be beat.
To fulfill a requirement for his additional Spanish major, Nick embarked on a journey that led him to study abroad in Cusco, Peru. This meant that after a short time of being together, we had to go long distance. This time was hard to be apart, but helped us to grow personally and in our relationship with each other.
We came home from school for the weekend. Friday night, I was planning to take Alllison's senior pictures. We went to Montissippi Park in Monticello, MN and began to take pictures. Allison went to change her outfit with Kristi (Nick's mom) while we went down to scope out the spots along the river. Allison and Kristi came back from changing and we began to take pictures, moving along the river bank. Once we reached a spot near the landing dock, Allison took off her jacket and turned her back towards me. Allison had a sign on her back telling me to "Turn Around". When I turned around, there Nick was on one knee. Of course I said yes!!
