Fernanda and Nicholas met on Memorial Day in May of 2023, just a few short weeks after Fer moved to Baltimore from Mexico City for a Postdoctorate Fellowship in Neuropathology. Even after Fer cancelled their "first first date," their plan for a short meetup for coffee turned into a 4 hour walk around the promenade in Baltimore, and the rest was history. Nick didn't quite believe in soulmates, but meeting Fer changed his mind. The two quickly fell in love, sharing laughs and smiles each day. Very soon, they were inseparable. They supported each other through the challenges of residency and research, bonded with each others' families, and built a home together in their Baltimore apartment with their dog Cody and cat Chelsea. On the 2nd of June, 2024, Nick and Fer took a day trip to Annapolis, MD. Fer knew that a certain big question was coming soon, but Nick cleverly planned 3 upcoming day trips to throw off when it would be. The two started off with brunch by the water before exploring the capital city's street fair, shops, and historic buildings. In the late afternoon, they headed to Great Frogs Winery, which was beautiful but there was no "down on one knee"-ing in sight! At this point, it was nearing sundown and Nick had Fer successfully thinking that today wasn't the day. But, Nick had one more stop for them to make at Quiet Waters Park. Promising a nice sunset view at the end of a long walk, Nick (with the help of close friends Sina and Aylar Famenini!) surprised Fer on a scenic bridge right at the start of the walk, asking her to spend her life with him. She said yes! With their busy lives as physicians and desire to save up for the wedding of their dreams, Nicholas and Fernanda knew that it would be some time before they could have their "big day." So, not wanting a very long engagement, they decided to get married! On the 12th of July, 2024, Nick and Fer said "I do" at the Baltimore City Courthouse, surrounded by their parents, Nick's sister Alexis, and Nick's grandparents. The start of Nick and Fer's married life has mirrored their storybook beginning, quickly adjusting to their lifelong partnership and lovingly supporting each other's aspirations. Now, Nicholas and Fernanda could not be more excited to finally have the opportunity to have their "big day" and celebrate with all of their family and friends! On the 25th of October, 2025, Nick and Fer invite you to their formal wedding celebration at the Bluemont Estate. Bring your dancing shoes!
