We're Getting Married!

...and THEN marriage! Nick and Felicia met in 2009 while attending Ohio University. Neither of them can remember the first time they actually met - they'd be lying if they said they met sober. They ran in the same social group for a few years, building a strong platonic friendship that mostly revolved around alcohol - but even then, their connection was stronger than most. By 2011 they had taken a class together, spent a summer hobnobbing along the red bricks of Athens and enjoying increasingly more one-on-one time with one another.

In early 2012, they made it Facebook official. A year later, they graduated college and moved into their first apartment ON THE SAME DAY. Fast forward another year, they found themselves in a condo with a puppy. And two years after that, they bought a house and added another dog to their little family. And then they found themselves asking, "What's next?" In 2018, they started planning a trip to Europe. Felicia had never traveled across the pond (and honestly spent more time planning how to get into Hogwarts than any other aspect of the trip). But Nick, a seasoned world-traveler, had another plan for their adventure. So they hopped on a plane and headed to France for a two-week Euro-excursion. On the first full day in Paris, after exploring Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower and the Arc du Triumph, the couple found themselves inside the Louvre after dark. Felicia was entranced by the artwork - and Nick, preoccupied by the ring in his pocket.

Outside of the Louvre, they walked through the plaza where the iconic glass pyramids stood glowing in the night. They paused for a moment to admire the fountains, the beautiful night sky and their relative solitude in the square. Felicia, an aspiring photographer, wanted to get some photos of the glass pyramids and was distracted while trying to get Nick to pose in the perfect spot. When the moment was just right, Nick dropped to one knee as Felicia snapped a photo. She simultaneously realized the moment was happening as the flash went off and illuminated the ring in his hand. She asked, just to be sure, "Are you being serious right now!?!" And of course he was being serious. After six years, three homes and two dogs - they were engaged to be married.
