How We Met

July 4, 2014

I was looking for something fun to do on July 4th, so when my mixed-doubles tennis-partner and friend from work, Ryan, invited me to join him and a "bunch of his friends for the Red, White & Brew" at the Georgia Aquarium for the day, I couldn't say no. Little did I know, God had plans for me to meet my future husband that day! Nick introduced himself as "Nick, Ryan's older brother" while waiting at the Buckhead MARTA station. We did not talk much that day, but little did I know, Nick's Great Aunt Tonnie had a different plan in mind for us. She invited me to join everyone for a BBQ the next day, an invite I accepted. Arriving a bit late the following day, I knew better than to show up empty-handed. What I did not know is that my contribution - Buffalo Chicken Dip - would be Nick's "Achilles heel." After the festivities died down and the last of the buffalo chicken dip was gone, I wandered over to a wall full of beautifully framed drawings of houses. Nick spotted me and began sharing the background, explaining each one was a sketch of his childhood homes. He described the artist and why the artist's technique had changed over the years. I found myself thinking "This guy is a fantastic story-teller!" and more importantly, I did not want the conversation to end... I soon figured out that Nick might be feeling the same way when he started showing up at my mixed-doubles tennis matches unexpectedly. Soon after, he asked me to join him to watch the World Cup Championship game with him and friends at a nearby bar, and the rest is history!

For all the days along the way
