Our story began in a small, south Jersey college. Emily had just decided to switch majors from Environmental Science to Mathematics. Meanwhile, I was wading through my second attempt at a degree in Computer Science. We didn’t know it at the time, but we actually shared our first class together the semester before we had our first conversation. My first distinct memory of Emily was when she came into class 30 minutes late, grabbed her midterm, sat down in front of me, and got back up to turn in her finished exam 30 minutes before me. I remember thinking, who the heck is this girl? Later on we’d talk about this moment and I’d find out she scored higher than me too. We had our second class together the next semester in Linear Algebra where this time Emily sat behind me. I had just switched from glasses to contacts and I guess that made all the difference because soon after, Emily asked me to join her study group. Shortly after, we had our first date at a go-cart track, then our first snowboard trip, then our first big vacation to the Philippines (quickly followed by our first global pandemic), our first apartment together, our first home, and most recently our first child. Now, we hope that you can join us for our next “first”— our wedding! We’re so excited to share this moment with you in the sunshine state of Florida as we begin the next chapter of our lives.
